"We owe conspiracy theorists a huge apology" No we fucking don't. They were talking about a secret conspiracy of gay trans Jewish lizard people. The Epstein files uncovered a conspiracy of rich, straight, white, right-wing Christian men, which these motherfuckers never even considered.

The lasting way to fight fascism—and the thing each of us can do—is to liberate your mind from the fascist framework. Stop being frightened of the things that fascists say are frightening. Start looking at those things as liberation. Fear the things fascists say make us safe. See them as prisons.

They raided the jailed children to steal their letters. The problem, in federal officials' minds, wasn't confining children in prison-camp conditions; it was that the children could tell the public about it.

Feels like you always hear a neighbor calling a serial killer a nice guy or that a despot loved dogs. One thing forcing us to accept that evil people can seem layered. So it’s wild that there’s not one positive trait to trump or musk. Not one person who attests to a single kindness. Evil to the core

Democrats keep saying there is nothing they can do. In the Senate, they can begin by refusing to allow unanimous consent to advance anything, for any reason. It does not stop everything, but it would render the Senate almost unworkable. They don’t, because it will make their jobs harder.

When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

None of this is necessary. We don't need 100K people in ICE detention. We don't need 400K people in pretrial detention. It's all just fascism. Racism is fascism practiced on Black people first. If we had cared more when it was mostly anti-Black racism, We wouldn't be building ICE warehouses now.

To all those who get offended by calls to abolish ICE: A lot of government agencies have come and gone over the years. ICE (as well as CBP) have only existed since 2003. Before ICE, the organization that did some of what ICE is SUPPOSED to do was the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).
