I, too, lament that bygone era of mystery films. It's not quite the same, but I can recommend 2018's SEARCHING and 2023's MISSING as two films that pivot around amateur detectives uses search engines to figure stuff out. (And I just learned a new term — "screenlife" — to describe the genre.)

I've probably watched some version of this a half-dozen times easy, but it's still fascinating to see it all compiled as a historical artifact. Even if you've seen most of this before, the intro material at the beginning is all new and interesting.
