Really good essay, esp. the historical context of video games as an affordable-ish "masses" hobby circa its arcade days. One bit I was curious about is running a 25¢ game of Pong from 1972 through the inflation calculator. That's $2 today. That same quarter for Pac-Man in 1980 is about $1 today.
