this is one of the problem with ideologies which rationalize the routine use of violence: you think you are attracting where violence is the means and the ideology is the ends. you are actually attracting people for whom the violence is the ends and the ideology is the means.

Thinking about it, I am fairly confident my permanent distrust of AI is rooted in my ability to write regular expressions. It’s not a hard or exotic skill, just a kind of multitool, but it’s rooted in trying to give THE CLEAREST INSTRUCTIONS POSSIBLE and watching them go horribly wrong.

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

I remember being confused by the radio edit of Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" (the only version I heard for months): "I hate to bug you in the middle of DINNER…" "Are you thinking of me when you [BLANK] HER…" I'm like, "Spin her? Sin her? What UNSPEAKABLY FILTHY word rhymes with 'dinner'?"
