I am delighted to announce a series of talks sponsored by the Chicago Humanities Festival, curated by me, on the history, meaning and future of the Constitution, titled (not by me, I swear!) Peter Sagal's Constitution Sessions, beginning in May with three great events.

On the set of "Malcolm In the Middle," Bryan Cranston would sometimes hum a tune he made up during a scene, would be paid a song writer's royalty for its use, and then he'd spend the money on the crew.

You may ask yourself, âCan the Supreme Court do that?â And you may ask yourself, âWhat was the purpose of the 14th Amendment?â And you may ask yourself, âWhat was the intent of the founders and is that even relevant?â If so.. May I recommend attending our sessions on the Constitution?

We must understand that the Voting Rights Act was not merely about ensuring Black Americans rights, it was about democratizing America. This ruling is not just a decimation of Black rights and Black Americansâ ability to have representation, it is a fatal blow to multiracial democracy.

Like the weak SPLC and Comey cases, the best way to think about this is an attempt to sync up law enforcement with the right-wing media narrative machine.

Another indictment today of a villain in RW narratives, far less well known than Comey. It does make the Biden pre-emptive pardon of Dr. Fauci look prudent.

Hereâs a brief explainer (from last year, when the incident happened) of why even if Comey really did suggest the President should be killed, it wouldnât be a crime even under the specific statute criminalizing threats against the President.

(1/2) Watched Acting AG Blanche, along with the Acting USA and FBI Director, deliver remarks on Comey's indictment. They basically just repeated, A Grand Jury has indicted him for threatening the President's life. They did not offer any evidence, any context, or a timeline for the alleged crime.

Put aside his tone: why is Director Zeldin constantly bringing up Loper-Bright vs Raimondo? Loper-Bright was a 2024 case in which SCOTUS decided Federal Courts no longer had to defer to Fed agencies in interpreting statutes, ending what was known as the "Chevron Deference."

One more Media Recommendation: "Predator: Badlands" was loads of fun. I don't know who had the wisdom to hand the franchise over to Dan Trachtenberg, but bless them. "Prey" was superb, and it would have been so easy to just ctr-C and do "Predator Vs Another Unlikely Warrior from History." He didn't!

So we all know what's happened to the Washington Post, and I'm grateful that so many of the heavy hitters who left have found new outlets. But the reporters and editors who remain, or recently joined, continue to do great work. Why? Because this is why you go into the profession.
