Polling editor at CNN, keeping (cross)tabs on public opinion and the news. I like puns.
pinned post!
Excited to share some tips for writing about polls for anyone coming in cold to the subject! (Pictured: a thing on which pollsters are probably not calling you these days).

You’ve spent the past 2 weeks, microlearning for a party. You’re ready to bring up the Great Gatsby. As you take a sip from your wine, Roberta, says: “Oh like an East Egg vs West Egg school?” Your night is ruined. You’ve gained a new nemesis and vow to microlearn even harder.

Reviewer 1: "While we appreciate the attempt to control for altitude in the survey, we are concerned that asking respondents 'How high are you?' may have involved ambiguous wording."

3 yrs ago I started writing a book that is in stores TODAY. It's narrative nonfiction, anti-fascist spy thriller set in Trump era. It's timely as hell & I'm proud of it. A thread of what people are saying abt it & why I hope you'll help make it a bestseller

we love a detailed crosstab (in my experience, folks often get a little too hung up on sample size for national polls -- after a certain point, there are diminishing returns for a topline -- but the breakouts like this are where a robust sample really comes in handy)

Characteristically thoughtful discussion of a known snag of survey research -- people who care a lot about politics are more likely to take political polls -- and what we might be able to do to address that (As noted, I think this is such a fun experiment)

This just in from Amnesty International: "U.S. authorities must immediately release journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort. Journalism is not a crime. Reporting on protests is not a crime. Arresting journalists for their reporting is a clear example of an authoritarian practice."
