hot take: to me the old adage of "art can't change the world" at some level just isn't true. and repeating it reflects a sense of defeat and narrowed possibilities, even if it seems totally reasonable to do so.

One of the reasons I lost interest in sci-fi during the pandemic: none of the apocalypses depicted were remotely relevant to the reality, which consisted in staying home, getting acid reflux, and non-stop doomscrolling the years away.
