Like I think this is probably one of the most under discussed electoral reform failures. It hasn't accomplished any of its main objectives and massively increased the power of party insiders

21. And before team Yglesias responds by saying "yeah, but it's bad politics to run on climate and energy"... I'd point out that I've won 4 elections in a very purple district running on climate and energy. Pro-tip: leadership is possible! You don't have to be stupid to win!

i know most of us all know it implicitly but i do feel like we're not talking explicitly enough about how the atmospheric rivers the pacific northwest is getting right now are a) climate change related (it's a different, warmer type of winter storm!) and b) likely more common in future winters

therefore c) it's incumbent on us to look at the flooding and road washouts and understand how much oregon's infrastructure is unprepared for the reality of 21st century weather and d) we need a coherent plan to redirect ODOT to prioritize this desperately needed modernization over highway expansion

I would say that you have to train yourself to focus on the actual people who care about you & who you care about/respect. Also you have to really live into your values. Both of those things will help you weather the opinions of strangers. I think that's different than not giving a fuck.
