They've resolved the motor vehicle issue by making pedestrians take 30 mins to get through the endless series of junctions and crossings. Success, I guess.

To address safety issues (bc of drivers) my kids’ school recently changed the pick up process to get rid of the car pick up line entirely. Caregivers have to park nearby & walk up to the blacktop to get their kids. It’s calmer, safer, and bikes can still roll right up onto the blacktop.

Any Edinburgh cycling people know how you're supposed to turn right from the new Great Junction Street cycle path onto Leith Walk? I've done this a few times now and I can't figure it out Otherwise Leith Connections cycle path working well though! Delighted to be avoiding the cobbles!

Batteries are coming to Europe. Earlier this year Europe’s largest battery storage site went live at Blackhillock, Scotland. The facility has a capacity of 300MW/600MWh. Much larger batteries are under development: A huge 1 GW / 4 GWh system is being constructed in Jänschwalde, Germany.

In few other northern European cities would vehicles be allowed to mix unrestricted with so many intoxicated pedestrians on a street with really poor pavements. If this was a rockfall on Arthur’s Seat or a toppled chimney, would the street have had some mitigations by now? 😔

Looks like a strong autumn for the Omni Centre cycle lane in Edinburgh - possibly linked to the recent introduction of Voi e-bikes? Otherwise, numbers have stabilised after large increases over the past few years. More infrastructure - particularly cycle hangars - is needed to sustain momentum.

And more bike racks everywhere! The placement, and numbers, seem to be decided by people who don't cycle and have no idea about how people live in the city.
