Interesting watch at DM Sub Planning committee yesterday. The New Mart Rd development returned after the Scottish Reporter took a long time to respond. Far from satisfactory as far as Cllrs concerned. Huge development - no car club spaces & no active travel contribution at big no-car development. /1

Kingfisher not sticking to the “catch and release” policy on the Water of Leith today. Very confiding not fazed at all by passersby even when they stopped to marvel at how close she was.

Longstone sinkhole fixed, path open again, wall reinforced, and existing paths beefed up with more hardcore and whindust. A bit of seeding required in spring, and some mesh fencing to add but otherwise all good. 🙂

It’s been suggested by one our members that it would be good if we could get some more trees planted along the northern edge of the Murray Burn behind where Short & Curlys and the Jaflong used to be. We’d need to liaise with ‘Places for People’ to see what’s possible.

Written to Scottish Canals, again asking the contractors return and remove all the pedestrian diversion signs they left behind at the start of Oct after they finished tree works along the canal. Diversion route includes primary school streets, which are narrow enough already. Not good enough.👎👎

The Dovecot CSO isn’t on the Scottish Water overflow map for monitoring (yet) but it regularly overflows and when the river level drops you can see sewer detritus stuck to the grill. Likely much more going into the river.

Tree safety works that commenced back on the 9/10 which were completed within a couple of weeks have left all their many diversion road signs strewn around our community blocking key routes to the local primary school.Ridiculous they have been left lying around for weeks now. Listening to this as the damaged river wall is getting a total battering from the river. Disappointed the committee did not pass the amendment. We'll keep engaging directly with the council officer responsible to ensure our communities questions are answered satisfactorily. 🙏 to those who supported.

Solidarity. Always hear plenty about anti-social behaviour from young folk & forget adults are guilty of anti-social behaviour on a daily basis. Speeding, engine idling, fireworks, pavement parking, smoking at the school gates, not being able to put rubbish in bins properly, fly tipping etc…
