NZ electricity company profits could fund R&D and industrial design innovation at the scale of solving any household efficiency problem imaginable. The current status quo is completely arbitrary, the result of political choices. But apparently we canât do anything except appeal to consumer choice.

Let's say it worked though. Let's say everybody was able to use these tips reduce their spend by 5%. That's going to translate to an even bigger %age drop in the power company's profit. The board call a meeting, and the CEO returns from his yacht. What happens in the meeting?

Here's the interesting thing about fuel storage like diesel ... it goes bad. In 6-12 months (though it can be extended out to 2-3 years through careful management) diesel will go bad. So, this reserve will have the be regularly replaced to remain a viable useable reserve. This isn't permanent.

actual pro tip from a girl who has been to more shows than i could ever count: if you ever need to get out of a crowd quickly, push your body in the direction you need to go while you put your hand over your mouth and dramatically, visibly heave. people will get out of your way IMMEDIATELY.

Among other things, the latest turn in the Platner story is a good example of why journalists need to get off X for professional and personal reasons, not just ethical ones. The writers who gassed his campaign up and now need to walk it back are mostly people who cooked their brains on X.
