I’ll write about it in full someday, but my parents’ final years were rough. Right before Thanksgiving of 2018, my dad broke his ankle. Several weeks later, as he was rehabbing from surgery, he had a massive stroke. While in the ICU, he couldn’t speak. We didn’t know if he’d make it.
