Howard Zinn: Whom Will We Honor Memorial Day? - Bucks County Beacon
Memorial Day should be a day for putting flowers on graves and planting trees. Also, for destroying the weapons of death that endanger us more than they protect us, that waste our resources and threat...

God I would have hammered him so hard for giving an opinion in an area he has no training in while testifying as an expert witness in another field. Maybe the Daubert hearing did happen, but I have doubts.

Trump did not reach a settlement with the government. There was no case to settle. He has not created a slush fund. He has colluded with Todd Blanche to steal money from the US Treasury. This is not a “deal.” This is a crime for which Trump & Blanche must be prosecuted. It ia a crime.

Most of what people want can be accomplished at the state level, if only people would consistently turn out to vote in every election. And not just November! April, August, etc.

The thing is, the elections that get the poorest turnouts, and have the most impact upon people's lives, are the ones where the electoral college isn't the least bit involved.

New in PN: The assault on higher ed goes deeper than you think "This is bigger than budget cuts. It’s not just a continuation of things like longtime GOP efforts to cut Pell Grants. It’s a wide-ranging assault designed to drastically limit access to higher ed for all but the rich & well-connected."

Discourse about finding "the Rogan of the Left" or "the liberal answer to Fox News" rarely accounts for the reality that the entire conservative media universe is the enormously unprofitable vanity project of a few rich sociopaths. It "succeeds" because they don't care how much it costs.

its true that i dont understand how the supreme court operates. for example do you get the free RV and house for your mom before or after issuing favorable rulings? is it a *wink wink* deal or more explicit? these are the things the general public doesnt understand

Just completely disconnected from reality. There was nothing in the trump campaign that signaled he "learned his lesson" or would surround himself with competent people. Add in project 2025, and I don't see how anyone didn't see this coming.

It's funny how during a normal presidency people blame the president for all sorts of things that he's not really in charge of but in this personalist government the president really is the source of everything going wrong.

Think of how many videos you’ve seen of ICE using unlawful force. Think of how many of them are against unarmed women half their size, how many take place at daycares and schools, how many are against women trying to find justice for themselves or their families. It’s a feature, not a bug.

A bill passed the Senate last night 100-0 to fund TSA, the Coast Guard and FEMA. If Speaker Johnson called it for a vote it would pass easily. But he won’t do that. Because Trump has ordered him to keep TSA shut down and keep the chaos. Pure incompetence.
