I was asked this morning on Hot 103 Jamz about an incident at MLK Park this weekend involving over 50 teens, several seriously injured. While we pray for a full recovery of all, we’re reminded that we can take steps to keep our kids safe.

Played a little soccer today as we celebrated the kick off of the 9th and Van Brunt soccer league, brought to us by The Kansas City Current, CVS, and Kansas City Parks and Rec. A great investment in a part of our community overlooked far too often.

Kansas City’s consumers, community, and workforce continue to lead during this World Cup, increasing spending and sales revenues more than any of the 11 U.S. World Cup host cities. That’s a win for our restaurants, shops, hotels, and the people who work in them.

While I have heard different reports about raids earlier today, I trust what I saw. Kansas City stands against masked authorities, mass detention, and agents who cause fear and chaos in our community.

Ribbon cuttings symbolize a lot, including tens of millions of dollars of investment on the Prospect corridor, including new townhomes for working class Kansas Citians at 35th and Prospect. We’re excited about the affordable and attainable housing we’ve recently built for over 10,000 Kansas Citians.

After a Father’s Day barber shop run—for the eldest kid, not me—made it by Fan Fest again. Spent a few hours talking to fans and thanking the essential volunteers and the outstanding first responders making it all possible.

Feeling today for y’all who have either lost fathers or for whom it’s complicated. For those of us who never knew them, the day’s always been chill. Just trying to do right by our own families. Whatever you’re feeling, hope your day goes alright.
