just remembered this 1985 photo (from a SEVA benefit) of weir with jonathan richman, who looks like he's trying to figure out how he ended up onstage with a grateful dead. incidentally, weir is singing "ripple," i think maybe the first time he sang a garcia/hunter song outside the dead.

Every time I go past the Kindertransport statue at London Liverpool Street station I stop to look at it and remind myself why the only appropriate response to xenophobes and racists is “fuck off”. And much the same goes for their appeasers.

This LP is 40 years old in 2026. The first Van album I bought, secondhand, was Beautiful Vision. The second was No Guru No Method No Teacher. As the sticker inside the sleeve reveals: 6 quid from Virgin in Broadmead, Bristol. Money well spent. I was 13 & and it completely blew me away. Still does.

Band family dinner this weekend before Peter’s show with Kevn Kinney.

Nothing has given me more joy in the past few years than rediscovering the music of the Grateful Dead. Dead & Company at the Sphere was insane - the 40 year wait to hear Dark Star worth it. Seeing #BobWeir & Wolf Bros last summer in London with a full orchestra was just sublime. Thanks Bob.
