Trail of Cthulhu has, for me, some of the best ever and most original Mythos material. In this bundle I particularly like Fearful Symmetries, Cthulhu Apicalypse, Eternal Lies, and Cthulhu City. Recommended even if you don't play Gumshoe.

Since there's a lot of views expessed about RPG writing, here's my contribution. I'll keep it brief. Engaging writing is not optional. Without that, I won't be excited to play, and...won't. Engaging writing does not interfere with utility. As much as anything else, utility is about structure.

I want your RPGs to be neither a dry collection of bullet points nor written to be deliberately obscurantist. I merely want them to be written well. To be both engaging and entertaining and to impart the necessary information. This is not in fact difficult. Go and read Paranoia or something.

If anyone wants, I'll rant at them about GMing for an hour in exchange for a pint. For two pints I'll also print out a certificate I'll invent for the occasion.

Interesting thoughts here. I've GMed both The Final Revelation and the Dead White World campaign in Cthulhu apocalypse - both were wonderful experiences and utterly gruelling, on both me and the players. Both really evoked feelings of dread.

I tried this and got "mid". Thought I'd have a cheeky second attempt, and got "mid" a second time. So be it.

I think my goal is to make things I think are cool, see them get more cool with art and layout and editing, and see them to completion. Then hope that other people might think they are cool as well. And make a sufficient money from it - I won't be rich, but it should pay for costs and my time.

My take here is that I read an RPG, and based on that read, choose whether I want to play it (or run it), and if so, how high a priority that is. I've got lots of games - an RPG book has to both excite me, and not do too much in the mechanics as explained on paper to irritate me, to see play.

I've just finished playing The Jaegermeister Adventure for Traveller. Good stuff, and nothing to do with the drink - playing space bounty hunters. Good fun, 10 sessions, and my first time playing Traveller beyond a one shot.

The key reason I don't use AI in my RPG work is that I'm too vain. My writing is better than AI writing, and I have a personal "voice" and things I want to express in my own way. I also love the chance to work with artists whose work I admire (and far exceeds anything AI), which elevates everything.

I've just finished GMing a campaign of Swords of the Serpentine, set in Renaissance Venice. My own work, not the exciting forthcoming @kennethhite.bsky.social book! Good stuff - the Serpent Folk plot was defeated, and war between Venice and the Ottomans was prevented.
