A lot of products these days, especially third party, but also mainstream projects, seem to revel in hundreds of pages or Many Things (136 new Centaur Hoof Cures). I long for the days of 128 pages max and some goodies as low as 64. Gimme dat thin content-packed RPG experience please. Less is more.

The mostly done version of my Regency Cthulhu scenario, Upstairs Downstairs, is off to my Sense and Sensibility advisor to check for, well, how much it makes sense and if it's sensible. Many of the fiddly bits remain around layout, art and such like, but this feels like progress.

Last game of #Northstar was me running WH40K Space Orks using Savage Worlds. Great fun with hunting down a hummie sky-un-tish, stealing a Rhino to do doughnuts in, negotiating with a horde of gobbers, setting a cathedral on fire as a distraction and raving to klaxxons and flighting lights

Sunday morning at #Northstar was Star Trek shenanigans with Code of the Spacelanes. A routine training mission went sideways resulting in an entirely unauthorised jolly around the solar system, & some swift justice applied to pirates by way of a surprise romantic interest & dodgy transporter system.

Last game of Saturday at #Northstar is my Savage Worlds Hell on Earth. Mad Maxine let the demon out to play more than once, "Gunny" took a battle to victory at the eleventh hour, Brother Julius made a prescient prediction, Major Revok freaked himself out even more and Freeway got new hubcap armour.

Game two of #Northstar is Alien (1e). My Political Officer is getting unfairly betrayed by a treacherous medical tech. All I wanted to do was let the xenos do their work on the other three crew. There aren't enough cryobeds to go round as it is...

First game of #Northstar was Outgunned themed for Star Wars. Great fun breaking out of an Imperial installation, chase scenes, gun fights, being strafed by TIE fighters etc. Definitely worth a second look.

Great fun playing #Daggerheart with noobs yesterday. I was unsure how they'd deal with "tell me about a crew member each", as they haven't experienced player author roles before. It was all cool though, we had the chain-smoking, jaded turtle person slowly but surely making the ship work was done 1/2

Goblins are having a team talk before joining the fray in today's Daggerheart for the boardgame crew. Terrible rolls haunted the first half, so maybe the players will do better after comprehensive dice changes. I did try to warn them about dice swapping...

*Procrastination Monkey kicks the doors in* Lads, lads, lads. What if we do Earthdawn but using Daggerheart? Me: Go away monkey, I'm trying to prep a normal intro game for tomorrow. Monkey: Yeah, but it'd work right? We've got all we need right here, we just need to look through all these cards.

Fun times playing some @bastionland.bsky.social Mythic Bastionland last night for the channel. Horrible creatures of all types waylaid our curious knights, and we suffered the loss of one of our favourite own! Entertaining evening uncovering fascinating myths and sticking a lance in them.

In retrospect, I think that the montage in this adventure worked particularly well because it took place along a magical pathway. We were free to invent challenges and solutions that were dreamlike, and we knew in advance that they had no bearing on the everyday world to which we then returned.

I had missed Upgrade when it came out (and thereafter), but it's quite a good relatively low budget sci fi cyberpunky thing. Fairly straightforward, and could have used more money to flesh it out, but a fun watch for genre fans.
