As we mark the centenary of George Martin's birth, it's worth reflecting on the huge contribution he made to the Beatles' recordings. George played on more Beatles tracks than any other outside musician & his openness to experimental ideas & his tasteful musical arrangements were perfect for them.

I was privileged to work with George and hoped to mark the centenary by touring a theatre show about his life & work – but I must stay focused on writing.
