these are fabulously joyful: do read them and cheer yourself up: "Hatless and barefoot under my parasol on a summer day, I watch a burly fellow working a well-pump and singing Suzhou folk songs. The water comes up in a sudden burst, like a spill of silver coins or a gust of snow"

Wait, so the actor who played the singer who used the godfather's influence to get a movie role in "The Godfather" (1972) apparently got his role in "The Godfather" because of the intervention of his own real-life godfather???

If you don't trust Google then you probably shouldn't use Gmail, but the claim it's training AI on your emails and attachments has *no real source that i have been able to find whatsoever* And they said on the record that it doesn't matter whether you have the smart settings on or not, they don't.

I handed out neighbor-printed whistles in Flatbush tonight and it was lovely. New Yorkers in motion do not EVER stop to chat but for this, they did. One church lady in a fancy hat gleefully took a whistle and told me she’d “blow they icy asses outta her town,” then apologized skyward for swearing.

Sets for Batman Returns were kept very cold for the comfort of the real-life penguins involved. This meant that cast/crew repeatedly got sick during filming. The real-life penguins though would often fall in love with their animatronic counterparts or feel so settled that they began mating.

This administration has aggressively targeted trans people, seeking to force the nation back to an imaginary time where people like us didn’t exist—where gender is a prison to cage us, instead of a canvas to express our true selves. But we have always been here.

We are in an extraordinary moment for the fight for trans lives and greater gender freedom for all. I wrote this year’s Remembrance Report - about what we’re facing, where we came from, and why we will never forget those who came before us:

What sound do frogs make, according to different languages. So far as I can tell, in Latin, frogs ('ranae') croaked ('coaxō'), which also appears to be their onomatopoeia for the frog sound: coaxō 🐸🏛️? It's 'croá, croá' in Spanish?

I grow frustrated with local news-- by focusing so much on stories of violence, they inadvertently promote the idea that the world is more violent than it is (leading voters to candidates who promise security at all costs). But holding up a mic to a cow is incredible
