chiming in to say heat exhaustion is no joke and to read this thread. yesterday it felt like 100F (37.7C) and i barely stepped outside/was sitting in AC/did everything "right" to protect myself. i still ended up with a fever and was overheating.

Not sure how old that idea is, but I think the real issue is modern conservatives embrace of artificiality and their rejection of "realness". All the conservatives you posted were coming from some place real. All the failed modern conservative artists aren't. They demonize true vulnerability now.

Whenever there IS a low budget success, the sharks circle to try and buy the developer, saturate the market with copycats, and otherwise attempt to sink their fangs into the new hotness. Nobody in this business can afford to think “it doesn’t impact me.”

There are bright spots, and it’s not impossible to make games on one’s own terms, but to suggest the executive class’ takeover “says nothing” about low budget games is simply incorrect. The damage done to this medium has been ruinous, wide ranging, and reprehensible.
