One of Pokopia’s charming little touches is how Ditto’s reply options are worded differently depending on the other Pokémon’s personality type. I love the suggestion that their penchant for mimicry extends to speech patterns in casual conversation. Ditto’s an instinctive social chameleon.

Regulate YouTube.

I love that YouTube can cut off someone’s revenue without warning or explanation, leave them hanging for a week, and then reveal it happened for no reason whatsoever with zero apology for inflicting such pointless harm. Nobody arbitrarily dishes out mental and financial abuse quite like YouTube.

I’m working on a review of Toxic Commando. As someone who put obscene hours into World War Z, playing Saber’s latest has been informative. You really appreciate how linearity can directly contribute to a memorable and well-paced experience after playing the same kind of game in a big open map.

Okay, *finally* finished the definitive last draft of the Pokopia review. I don’t believe I’ve ever spent this long writing a review, and I still didn’t touch on everything I could have said. Anyway, that’ll be published today. Just gotta perform the agonizing task of picking my best screenshots.

Was going to post my Pokopia review today but during the final draft I just kept finding more and more to gush about. It’s now hours since I started editing and I’ve still only said a portion of what I could say about it. It really is an utter treat of a game.

I kinda love that two games I worked on are head to head in this. Whoever wins, I win. (But seriously both Date Everything and Quantum Witch are fantastic games and it was a privilege to write for them)

For no reason other than sheer whimsy, I made a junkyard in Pokopia’s Palette Town for Ekans and Koffing. Then I realized I could simulate a trash furnace by putting garbage bags in front of a fire statue. Look upon my public works and despair.

Booted up Pokopia to find that these two doofuses managed to squeeze their way into my house and got properly wedged. Now it’s just a matter of waiting to see which one kills, fucks, and eats the other first. Smart money’s on Snorlax, but Tyranitar’s almost certainly taking a limb or two.

We’re long past a point to where layoffs deserve to be seen as a form of industrial sabotage. The damage done to gaming and many other industries by mass layoffs following mass acquisitions is irreparable. Ruined lives, squandered money, stripmined resources, businesses left fucking sabotaged.

Resident Evil Requiem is turning out to be rather fabulous. My only complaint is the ridiculous inventory limit, otherwise it’s great. Grace’s parts are properly tense, Leon’s parts are wonderfully over the top. Acting is lovely too, and the zombies are portrayed so well.

My initial feeling about the new Resident Evil is that Grace’s voice acting is stellar.

I’m playing the Turtles roguelike that was ported from mobile a while ago. They are constantly calling their enemies “Foot Creeps” and “Foot Freaks” and “Foot Goons” and I refuse to believe nobody who worked on this script knew what they were doing.
