Getting reallllllllllly tired of my profession being painted as the bad guy when we're all just a bunch of nerds who want you to be safe from tornadoes.

Before the 1990s, plane crashes caused by microbursts used to kill planeloads of people fairly regularly. Dr. Ted Fujita and NCAR scientists figured out how to detect microbursts and warn pilots about them. Since then? Zero airliner crashes from microbursts.

A deeply dangerous — and blatantly retaliatory action against Colorado — by the Trump administration. NCAR is one of the most renowned scientific facilities in the WORLD — where scientists perform cutting-edge research everyday. We will fight this reckless directive with every legal tool we have.

These people are nuts. NCAR developed the GPS dropsonde, which revolutionized the understanding of TC structure, improved forecasts, and validated remote sensing platforms, as documented in over 400 peer-reviewed publications in the last 25 years. And that’s just one of NCAR’s countless advances.

The internet is now absolutely *jam packed* with AI slop, endless reams of videos and articles and images. We achieved infinite monkeys on infinite typewriters and so I ask: where is Hamlet? Perhaps art was more than letters and pixels after all. Who knew?

I have published more than 70 peer reviewed scientific journal articles. I am a reviewer at 50+ journals, and an editor at one journal. I cannot for the life of me fathom why some journals care so much about reference formatting style. If I can find the paper, you've cited it fine.
