Weird how at some point the ACA subsidies went from meaningless technocrat babble that it was obviously incredibly stupid for Democrats to try protecting to being incredibly important for helping people avoid suffering. And Democrats managed to get it wrong both times!! What were the odds?

Trying to make this observation delicately, but there was an obvious relationship between users with the “posted more than 100 times yesterday” badge and users who had a very hard time with Senate developments

Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

They call it “the UK” because instead of addressing a stranger with something normal like “Hey, how’s it going?” or “Hi, how’re you doing today?” they just look at them and say, “UK?”

There are two reasons people do this: 1. Hating Dems is "cool" and "hip" and the way to show that you're totally savvy and part of the in-group; and 2. It's just kind of assumed that the torches and pitchforks are already out for Republicans, so why actually bother to take them out? Both are dumb

This one is R+10, which makes it within the realm of possibility if you look at VA-Gov and NJ-Gov which were also 10% swings over 2021. Uphill for sure, but worth the effort. Motivated Dem turnout might win this one.

A very interesting comparison here. 2025 vs 2023 for my state of NSW. Testing for COVID-19 and influenza has not changed substantially that I'm aware of in this time. The labs generally test for both on any swabs taken. The ratio of COVID-19:Flu 2025 - 0.49 2023 - 2.97 (!)

I don’t think it’s good to sell some romanticized fiction of “Europe” to the rest of the world. For example: In Germany, busses are not free and people go to actual jail if they’re caught not paying multiple times.

I do not think all anti-Zionists are antisemitic, but anti-Zionists who label Zohran Mamdani a "Zionist" simply because he condemned swastikas drawn on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn are in fact antisemites.
