I think that Gaza mostly functioned as a permission structure for some on the left to oppose Biden and then Harris in an existentially important election, and that as the omnicause has just led them to irrevocably bad places. And no prominent voice on the left has ever called this out directly.

I had similar experiences long before that schvantz came down the golden escalator, which is what brought me into the fold from the “they’re all the same, I’m too hardcore for Democrats” left. And it’s something that a lot of (mostly white) people bashing Dems really aren’t interested in hearing.

And it turns out that is simply not a sacrifice many people are willing to make. Their engagement in politics is NOT about building a better world, or addressing real problems. It's about having an excuse to be angry and resentful all the time. It's the one thing they won't allow to be taken away.

I avoid posting about myself on here for many reasons, so you'll have to forgive me for being vague. But a while ago, MAGA came for a group I volunteered with and really caused some significant problems. And that experience really elevated my feelings about all of this.
