Not unrelated, but I've been increasingly amused by the slop enthusiasts' claim of "you'll get left behind of you don't learn how to use it now" of interfaces that're supposed be intuitive and allow us to interact with technology in a natural way. If it worked, we literally wouldn't need to be told.

Just watching the JD Vance news conference and all I can think of is Martin Niemollers poem and George Orwell's scary verse. "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

I know you all know this, but re Farage's BBC tantrum: 1: Alf Garnett was a satire on racism, not pro-racism. 2: Bernard Manning featured mainly on Granada TV, not the BBC. 3: Farage would no more boycott the BBC than a flea would boycott a dog's ear. He's both profoundly stupid and a liar.

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased. Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power. Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable. But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless. Remember this.
