As someone who worked very closely with the BMA (I was once an Investigation Officer with the General Medical Council) this is utter, utter horseshit. The BMA protects the very foundation of the British medical profession and the idea their remit would be better handled by corps is insane.

A big reason proc gen feels so different to AI in spite of superficial similarities is exactly this!! Proc Gen systems reflect the interests and creative preferences of the tool makers, whereas AI is catch-all sludge that reflects no specific point of view. It’s not remotely the same!

every single frame of animation, in-house developed sound effect, line of code, visual asset, chart, and line of dialogue was done by a human and done without using generative AI tools in the making of UNBEATABLE. relinquishing creative choices to tools makes your work empty, vapid, and meaningless

"AI is a tool." No. Empirically not. A tool empowers people; helps people. It solves an extant problem. Generative AI in creative mediums is being used as a cudgel that diminishes and eliminates people, and the only "problem" being solved is fiscal. Stop validating it, even in passing.

I know it may seem that us Future Class folks don't seem to give Geoff any benefit of the doubt. But we have given him ample opportunities yet he consistently shows us what his priorities are: "his own bag, his rich friends, and positive press." Not supporting the industry that lets him have a show.

If your game has voice acting, then working with the voice actors is half of your writing process. It's not complete until you've heard it interpreted and reimagined by a voice actor. And they always reimagine it in ways that elevate the writing, in ways you never would have imagined yourself.

I haven’t seen it posted anywhere but the half day rate for a voice actor is like $550 and the full day is $1100. So Embark is bailing on this cost line item for something that would run them like $15,000 a year per language.

I just think you should be skeptical of someone whose website has more links to "ways to give me money" than it does "things I've done/made"

You know what: yes. Arc Raiders is enormously enjoyable but its use of shitty AI voices is not just antithetical to its themes, it's a disgusting compromise that threatens the integrity of certain parts of the industry. This is an incredibly well considered review with an appropriate score.
