I covered the Chicago Police Department for years and it's impossible to miss the similarities to shootings here over the years. The tactical chaos. An old friend, one of the kindest people I know, works at this school. It is a welcoming and safe space for the diverse immigrant community in Minneapolis. This is disgusting and heartbreaking and infuriating.

The reality of a police state is that most protesters will flee before police violence gets extreme. That's what Renee Good, very sensibly, was trying to do. The killer prevented her from doing so, stepped in the way to hold her there so he could kill. That's a murder state.

This wicked fucking country, man. I see so many of my neighbors and friends in her story and it could have been any of us. We have to tear this shit down.
