CA's AG, also openly supporting the protest movements: “Crowds are super important. That is the rawest, most powerful expression of our democracy. When people show up, whether it’s Hands Off or No Kings, we are speaking about what we will never accept and what we demand.”

I wasn't sure what to expect from a group of Democratic state AGs, but I definitely was not expecting a long monologue about Ruby Ridge and the Boston Massacre

heartening thread here. there is real, meaningful work we can do to protect our communities, we can learn how to do it from each other, and we don't have to do it alone.

I got very choked up in class today showing my students what James Baldwin had to say about Shakespeare: “the greatest poet in the English language found his poetry where poetry is found: in the lives of the people. he could have done this only through love…”

I find it necessary these days to affirm the obvious because the descent into fascism is mostly a continuous, not discrete, process so here it goes: these are internal checkpoints by secret police for what is routine freedom of movement.

Again, it's protected activity under the First Amendment. Courts as far back as at least 2000 have concluded that.

they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.

Word on the street is that in 2026 the next big thing in publishing is garish, avant garde science fantasy about anguished souls living in weird cities built on the bones of fallen civilizations they could never hope to understand

just received word that onions have been ranked the "number one vegetable" of 2025. that makes 7,448 years in a row of the humble allium placing in the top 3, a stretch of unrivaled dominance that is unlikely to ever be beaten by other greats like cabbage or chili pepper

The secret to networking in video games is to meet lots of peers at a similar stage in their careers. Identify one who's really talented; you must then kill them and bury their heart under a crossroad. A thing wearing their face will contact you in 7 days and offer to elevate you, at a price.

I am tempted to go on a longer discussion of this but I am on vacation. But as someone who leads the design department and hires and mentors designers, using chatGPT to write your design specs is antithetical to the role and job responsibilities of a designer.

getting to editing some of my shots from korea this week. i tried to focus on doing more environmental portraits this trip, and several people were very generous with their time and let me take their picture, like this tug operator in busan.

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead. I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.
