While away I’ve had the chance to read @jon.inkle.co’s wonderful Heaven’s Vault book III. I loved the first two, but he’s really taken a step up this time, in terms of depth and complexity, taking advantage of what novels can do that games can’t (or struggle to do!)

This thread is one million times more interesting than one million articles about whether or not one million chatbots would ever work out the script for Hamlet.

The next game includes a kinda first bash at a "theatre"-system: there are two characters, each with threads of conversation they follow - one is the player, one an NPC, and each can reply to the other. So we have two conversations running, overlapping, with the balance tipping both ways as it goes
