It’s quit hard to express how depressing the state of the industry is to outsiders. Perhaps because there is no factory closing or entire towns emptied. The layoffs means 300 people here and 70 there and 25 freelancers in Europe and 5 small companies in Vietnam, etc.

btw, please note that "no studios closing" doesn't mean no developers were laid off. if you worked at xbox ensuring games released in some capacity? game developer. you do not have to touch code or art assets to be a game developer, and thus an integral part of the process.
