I interviewed an author at a book festival and taught MA students about publishing! A busy week – so today I am at home in my lounging pants.

After a presentation on the changes we've made in the library to encourage reading a tutor sent me a message to say that he'd given his students 10 minutes to read at the start of the lesson and they'd asked if they could have the whole hour. He let them. A classroom of 17/18 year old boys, READING!

Just before I went to sleep last night, I got a mail with a new acceptance for a (weird little) flash fiction, funnily I had a feeling it would be a perfect fit for them, and it did make the cut.

Honestly this is made my morning. Saying that it's the closing date on a house I've got an offer on and would be great for me so 🤞🏻 that by the end of the day my good news is that I've had an offer accepted 🙏🏻

Caught up with my oldest friend and met her new dog (friendly golden retriever with a single brain cell), celebrated son's 21st birthday at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (sat on by a parakeet), iron levels are back in the normal range. Been a good week off work!

Had my last radiotherapy session on Wednesday, which also happened to be a beautiful Spring day. I saw little bees sucking nectar from the flowering weeds that grow between the tram rails. There are flowers in my garden.

Well, this, of course! But also a stimulating meeting with these friends and colleagues, 2 whole days just to think and discuss a diverse range of research that intersects around futures

Not important and I accept that the opportunities for saying this if the candidate is a chap are few and far between. But that green and pink outfit is fabulous. And tremendously good news that she's won (which IS important).
