the shit I care least in the whole world about is whether the story about the Earl of Sandwich is true. yes it fucking was. my man was playing cards and eating meat with his hands and then he said hold up check this out. you won't believe this shit. bring me some fucking bread & hold onto your hats

I just finally managed to sand off the silly biro marks my first boyfriend carved into my double bass long ago to mark where the frets would be. It's deeply annoyed me every time I played it since. Who does that to someone else's instrument?

One of the most common replies in any discussion of universal basic income is "but how do we pay for it?" and not once do those same people ever question the costs incurred by not doing UBI. We spend $1.5 trillion every year on the costs of child poverty alone. Poverty ain't free, folks. WE ALL PAY.

An easy way to explain luddites: Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand. And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before. That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

One thing I forget about allistic people is that many of them struggle with literal statements. That can be a challenge and lead to arguments but I really believe they find it very difficult not to assume subtext, so I try to be patient.

Dismal framing. Every aspect of most asylum seekers’ lives is controlled & paid for by the Home Office. They can’t work, are told where to live & have no autonomy or dignity. So they aren’t *choosing* to use taxis & don’t need to be “banned” from doing so. The HO just needs to get its act in order.

I'm having a cry at the Tove Jansson illustrated edition of The Hunting of the Snark because the words are more beautiful than I remembered and the illustrations are so happily solving so many challenges that I understand. There's one where she just put three tiny mugs in to solve a composition.
