A close look at the enchanted forest map for the upcoming Perils & Princesses TTRPG adventure “The Princess & The Dragon.” I love taking a simple point crawl and injecting it with atmosphere and style. Dropping an evocative world map on the table really entices players to explore.

Trying WINTER KING again and I'm truly baffled by the casting/art direction of Merlin. Everyone else is fine so far, but Merlin is young, well-kempt, soft-featured, measured in voice and manner. He should be the opposite of all of those things (at least according to the book on which it's based)

Reminder to artists: occasionally pause movies, news, tv and sketch folks. Look at old yearbooks, church directories, newspapers. Even when you feel like you have a pretty good mental catalogue of features from which to draw, it's amazing just how much character specificity a real face can yield.

I've been on a French romantics kick lately because I was gearing up to see a touring show of Les Miserables (it was canceled due to the snow 🙁), but among the reading and watching I've done was an excellent miniseries available on Kanopy - VICTOR HUGO: ENEMY OF THE STATE.
