Remember how I said I have it written into my foreign-language contracts that my work has to be translated by an actual human? This shit is why. Those book translations are gonna suck. They'll save money putting out books that are going to be painful to read. That's not a great long-term strategy.

been meaning to say this but saw a "anime/manga fans aren't into anything but shonen" essay. i think we often forget that jump is a cut-throat hit factory focused on mass success. addictive story formulas, incredible artists, characters designed for max likability. of course casual fans never leave?

Calling something clickbait really works to neutralize it, even when it’s true, or on video. It’s a lousy, dishonest approach but does gangbusters. “They twisted this out of context” is a bad play when you can see the context. Another evolution of “that’s fake news.”
