What radicalized me was seeing the old Pearl Paint neon sign displayed in the lobby of the luxury condo that replaced it. The Capitalists weren't just content to trample over the culture of the city, they made a trophy to commemorate the act.

Saw New York Central branded watercolor paper on the Jerry's Artarama website and I thought I was disassociating for a second. It's like seeing a friend who died years ago just randomly working as a cashier at the supermarket.

Can anyone recommend some resources for a general overview of pre-20th century Western fashion? My reference points end up being almost exclusively from pop-culture or some other modern amalgamation, and it's really messy to work with.

The most annoying thing about genAI is that eventually the genAI proponents are going to get to the end of the novelty of it, realize its limitations, and then claim to be the innovators of doing things the long way without genAI. Call it "slow productivity" or something.

At a previous design job the founder suggested that I should look into ways to increase my productivity through AI tools. I thought about tasks I hated doing — where quality and accuracy were non-factors — and realized I hated almost every part of that job. I quit soon afterwards.

Did the normal 7.4 content today and didn't feel the itch, I think I might be retired from raiding for real this time. Not really an indictment on the content, in hindsight my interest in raiding waned as soon as I started doing art again ~2 years ago.

For my last two paintings I've been doing a final pass with a soft airbrush to reduce contrast and soften some of the details. When placed side by side the harsher version feels more appealing, but I think the softer version is a better painting overall.

Manon WIP This is the first time I'm working off of an accurate in-game model as a reference (ff14 models aren't that detailed) and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I like the result but it does feel a bit uncanny, like maybe I filed off too many of the rough edges of my style

What's especially irksome about this iOS UI update is that I can so clearly visualize the approval process. A bunch of execs nodding approvingly at a giant mockup in a conference room while the end user experience feels like swiping at a loose tray of contact lenses.

WIP Manon sketches for the SF6 art contest. I'm leaning towards #4 because it's the most legible pose and I like the lines, but it doesn't really express her ballerina theme. #1 demonstrates the theme most clearly but the composition might not work for the format. Thoughts?

Saw some comments saying that I whitewashed a character in my last painting, and although my initial thoughts were rather unkind I have to admit I might've nudged the final curves adjustment layer a bit too far on the whole painting.

I've seen a pretty noticeable collapse in my twitter numbers, and even though it's just a vanity metric the shift is making me second guess the appeal of my recent work. There's always rumblings about algo shifts but I don't think that's the whole story.

Got pulled into the model/miniature painting youtube algo and it's been surprisingly helpful for my 2D art. It's made me rethink using layers as doing "passes" with specific objectives, rather than just escalating stages of detail. It's okay for my fine details to be in the middle of the layer stack

WIP Is the likeness close enough to recognize? I really struggle with Miqo'te faces because they're surprisingly different from real life human faces

I'm thinking of doing something for the SF6 illustration contest, but don't have any ideas off the top of my head. Any characters/costumes people would like to see me draw? I could just submit my Cammy drawing with some adjustments, but I'd ideally want something more dynamic

A bit of BTS: The quoted drawing is actually my second attempt at this. I wanted to finish this drawing before Thanksgiving, but I ended up hating it so much I did something I never do and started over from scratch. The first draft is *fine* but it's mediocre in a way that irked me really badly.
