So many of these things that are such egregious violations depend so intimately on a Congress, accountable to the people, unwilling to let the violations pass without at least trying to remove the person who committed them.

The emoluments clause is actually a perfect example of how I’ve had to learn that the constitution is not self-executing. Trump was violating it in his first term, is far more egregiously violating it now, but even if courts hadn’t dismissed cases about it, there’s no remedy other than impeachment.
