'Record of Lodoss War' is always how your TTRPG party starts. 'Slayers' is always how it finishes. The LARP I play actually sent out the 'Slayers' party with the serial numbers filed off as NPCs once.

Knights of Guinevere is everything that I needed to see right now. Holy shit.

The original one was very military-oriented. The dolls has army, navy, marines and air force versions. By 1970 the unpopularity of the Vietnam war caused Hasbro to switch the focus and rename to GI Joe & The Adventure Team. More like an action hero. I even had the Black GI Joe, who was the coolest.

The original series ran from 83-86. The 12" toy came out in 1965. I got my first one in 68. I had the original painted hair ones, as well as the Kung Fu Grip (1974) with fuzzy hair models (Adventure Team) 1970+. The 4" ones came out in 1982 and the cartoon series was it's tie-in.

I completely forgot about the Illegally French CGI Big Head Children Show and i say that with genuinely love… but i dont think it had an ending? Did it? It was such a weird and different thing at the time and I appreciated that.

Remember when Persona 5 was really popular and it's a game where the big bad is an entity that was born from people's desire to give up their cognition and let a higher power think for them, and that was really bad? It seems like no one really paid attention to that lesson.

To oppose trans people's rights and freedoms you break so many social contracts. We keep saying that trans rights are human rights, but conversely, human rights are trans rights, because the second you decide some people don't deserve the same rights and freedoms as others? You start to lose it all.

You don't get to erode trust in science and medicine, refuse to listen to experts in the field and trans people ourselves (which as the sole stakeholders in our own healthcare, you should), and not expect that you've opened the door to the likes of RFK Jr and other cranks and crackpots.

...or that people are entitled to privacy and dignity. And if you break open the Pandora's Box that some people aren't deserving of certain rights and freedoms, aren't entitled to privacy, because you find them icky and don't like what they do with their freedoms, you've just let fascism in.

This is entirely true on so many levels I don't think I could possibly detail it exhaustively, but you really can't oppose trans people's human rights and still have freedom of expression and bodily autonomy, the idea that people are entitled to self determination goes right out the window....

I got as far as securing some equipment and programming a handheld but now I FINALLY have the spoons to go through the license process and want to encourage the rest of us to do so as well. It can be done inexpensively (under $20 for a handheld, the exam is $15, license $35).

I shared lots of HAM radio info at the start of the year, and this is about that. I'm thrilled we now have Blacksky as an option but durable comms, ones that function during emergencies both locally and if you have the range internationally will be CRUCIAL as things further collapse.

Important 🧵. I keep thinking back to 9/11 when I lived in Brooklyn and cell phone service was unusable for days afterward. I got a landline after that but we need methods of communication that can’t be controlled by corporations. More consolidations + interruptions in service are likely.
