It is amazing to me that there are so many JRPGs out there and yet I can’t think of one that I’d describe as being like Live A Live. It really is its own thing. If you’ve never played it you really should. 8 bite sized miniRPGs that hit such a wide array of moods and emotions.

For example: Mega Man X is one of my favorite games. I've played it more times than I can count, own multiple copies, and the vinyl soundtrack. I'm a fan. If someone else played it just once or watched a let's play and and loved it, they can be just as much of a fan. It's not a competition. ✌️

No one has dominion over what games/franchises you choose to be a fan of. - Plays a game for thousands of hours for years. - Watches a Let's Play video of the same game. Both of these can be fans of the same game for their own reasons. HOW they found appreciation in it is personal—and valid.

Honestly threw my teenage self into total shock (in the best possible way) when a 90's game utilized a lead protagonist who created an entire psychosis because his main character flaw is basically about suffering from issues of toxic masculinity.

It's strange finding myself with multiple people who are literally family to me at this point. It feels so amazing knowing I have people I can absolutely trust and rely upon. Sometimes it's overwhelming in the best possible way - I just feel emotionally stunned at how fortunate I am.

The feedback I've gotten on 'FuncoLand' from fans on Bluesky, Spotify comments, etc.. has been a little emotional for me. I worked on this for months and seeing that some consider it their favorite episode brought a couple tears to my eyes. From the bottom of my Retro Gamer heart, thank you. 💜

Need some 1980s arcade and console puzzlers to play? I made a pretty good list of the essentials and the games I didn't cover, but you might want to try! Admittedly, it's a list with a lot of misfit titles, but that's sort of how that genre worked before Tetris caught on in the late 80s!

I'm doing a lot better lately. I'm still having down moments but I'm bouncing back a lot more quickly. I've had a lot of really good, meaningful conversations with friends over the past few weeks and they're really helping me figure out what I want and how to actually get there. It's wonderful.
