Usually I focus on freshwater eel history, but today let's talk congers! A marine species, congers are the world's largest eel, growing to 6 ft. & 150 lbs. or so. From the 1190s on, they were big business in the Channel Islands, where sales of the fish was a ducal monopoly. 1/2 🗃️🧪
