6/ Next, let's get the Forestry Commission to restore more broadleaved woods, instead of restocking quite so many conifer plantations. Give it a new statutory purpose for nature. Its duties were last seriously updated in the 1967 Forestry Act - outmoded and unfit for the 21st century.

Basically there will be no freebies from the EU to the UK regardless of the importance of security. And the perception that there should be or might be continues to heavily damage UK political understanding of its options towards the EU.

In general, UK heatwaves have tended to be short and produce a spike in deaths followed by a dip of a similar size over the next couple of weeks. This suggests that they mostly just accelerate the deaths of very frail people by a week or two. This may change in future as we see longer heatwaves. 6/6
