Had noticed the British Library site wouldn’t load so I went over and sure enough they are the subject of a massive cyberattack. “Catastrophic,” a librarian I know there said. Site may be down for days or even weeks, he thought.

I used to think people stopped believing in vaccines because they never saw--and could not imagine--the awful diseases that they wiped out. All the great vaccine success stories were in their past. Then maybe the greatest success of all time happened right in front of them and it only got worse

This is TERRIFYING and again please note that while many white professors were getting Washington Post threads and philanthropic support , they and the groups that supposedly advocate Said almost NOTHING about their Asian and Black colleagues being attacked

If you’re wondering how those that aren’t masking during an ongoing pandemic are *really* doing. 👇 Alt Text for photo in post: A photo showing hundreds of filled prescriptions waiting to be picked up behind a pharmacy counter.

By the end of September, more than half of the world’s countries could fit inside the land burned this year in Canada. “I can’t think of any analogy for the extent to which the modern records were not only broken but destroyed here,” says climate scientist John Abatzoglou. Read more:

This Scholastic controversy just made me realize that using "diverse" just to mean non-white or non-straight is the way it goes now, another special category to be put into. Diversity has to include everything or else it isn't diverse. Otherwise, it's just a new way to say black or queer or whatever

This is so real. I’ve reported on this over the years in many forms. Coral reef scientists. Conservationists caring for endlings. Public health workers in the pandemic. Journalists covering all the above. The people bearing witness are not okay.

Folks, look, Scholastic is only a billion-dollar juggernaut that dominates the children’s book industry. What are they supposed to do about fascist book banning and censorship in the face of 11 racists sending angry emails? Whatever they want because they literally can? C’mon. Be reasonable.

If anyone had suggested in 2019 we could ERADICATE B/Yamagata flu, most experts would have laughed. Imagine what might have happened if government skimmed a little off defense budgets and paid everyone to stay home 6 weeks in early 2020. We might have eradicated Covid AND most cold and viruses.
