George Herriman is arguably one of the first major black artists in comics. And the only reason for that is because NO ONE KNEW HE WAS BLACK. He was light skinned enough to be white passing & hid that fact into old age so that he WOULD be able to continue drawing largely due to rampant racism.

It’s funny seeing all the right wing talking heads try and condemn violence, only to be reposted with screenshots of their own calls to violence. Your ethos means nothing if your praxis contradicts it.

I'm not going to be scolded for failing to mourn the shooting death of a man who demanded shootings be an acceptable part of American life. I'm not going to feel bad for being desensitized to the gun violence he demanded we become desensitized to.

I think it's terrible that Gen Z and Gen Alpha continue to live in a world where K-12 and college campus shootings are a normal part of life and that's all they've ever known and I think we should arrange things so that any kind of school or university shooting is impossible

It should be common knowledge that those in power in the United States will sacrifice their young, their downtrodden, and their marginalized for the continuation of the status quo. For a pretty penny. For power. THAT is political violence and they commit it every single day.

Right now those in power are telling you straight to your face that "if a piece of shit racist white man is harmed by gun violence it's a problem and you should feel sympathy. If anyone else is harmed (kids included), that's life". I do hope this radicalizes people. I hope this wakes people up.

It's not lost on me in the midst of this eulogizing and memorializing a monster that my home state, Florida, has made it a crime to commemorate or remember the victims of the Pulse massacre. In America, only some deaths are considered grievable. The rest of us are just "collateral damage."

Every now and then, I fall into the slump of feeling like I don't have much to show for WSP's successes but then I see all the ones I've published get so excited about finally being able to hold their book or how there are genuine supporters and it reminds me that yeah, this is still doing good.
