A mere 19 months ago, Trump’s net worth was $2.6B, and he owed hundreds of millions in civil penalties. Today, Trump is worth $7.1B, and most of the civil penalties have been tossed out. Presidential politics is by far the most lucrative business venture of Trump’s career.

One curious thing on this site about speaking out against the encroachment of LLMs is that inevitably you get accused of being anti-tech. I don’t hate technology. I’ve used machine learning in my own code before. But I also recognize that oligarchs are so hellbent on pushing this tech for a reason.

It’s a material reality that right now the AI tech bubble is holding up the empire. It increasingly powers all commerce, and is central to the most invasive surveillance apparatus the world has ever seen. Predictive analytics trained on our data have allowed billionaires to track us like wildlife.

Not that anybody comes to me for Maine politics, but the fact that the Democrats successfully convinced a 77yo Governor to primary the 41yo progressive, is today's example of why the Democrats fucking stay failing. Susan Collins is 72 and if Schumer gets his way, she'll be the YOUNGER choice!

This is a sidebar but this is a form of manufactured consent of a more broader variety. What is happening here is that elites enjoy finding everyday actions of the peons (you and me) that we insist a right to enjoy and, instead of taking a serious account of fault, find basis to ridicule.

What I learned from Miss Major was persistence and also keeping a sense of humor. I was lucky to see her work in various organizing meetings over the years. She was a model of how to be a good elder. Truly grateful for everything she did to make the world better. Time for the rest of us to continue.

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

So while we're screaming "don't touch Medicaid", the Republican base is saying "if you're gonna touch Medicaid, make sure you tell me how you're gonna take care of me when it's gone." It's a completely different conversation. One that is much more politically tractable.
