South Carolina has reported 99 new measles cases in the past 3 days. Meanwhile RFK Jr. is “building a case” to argue that the U.S. shouldn’t lose its measles elimination status. But we’ve lost it and hell of a lot more. He only cares about optics. Reality need not apply.

Instead of trying to stop the spread of measles within the United States, RFK Jr. is trying to make a case that what we are seeing in this outbreak doesn’t technically count as continuous transmission of measles. He wants to undermine vaccines but he also wants to retain elimination status.
