It's Whopper Wednesday! This week, we take on RFK's claim that food allergies might be caused by aluminum adjuvants in vaccines. (News flash, aluminum salt adjuvants in vaccines are safe. Removing them will decrease vaccine effectiveness, leaving our children vulnerable to infectious disease.)

There’s misreading happening around vaccines. The ACIP contends that vaccines are not necessary if the risk is low & in many cases cause harm. This is actually the opposite of what vaccines are designed to do. They prevent disease & are a feat of science. It’s misinformation disguised as science.

I woke up this morning to see that many states across the country have decided to #REJECT the decision to scrap the #HBV vaccine birth dose by #ACIP. Here are some (alt-text included). But who will be left behind? 1/

And more and more individuals, especially Black and brown people, will be in danger of being criminalized based on their Hep B status. In a country that targets people for punishment based on their health status, failing to protect kids from Hep B is a disgusting and violent choice.

An important new paper by @jonshaffer.bsky.social et al. has examined the impact of strict state abortion bans on EMTALA violations. In Texas, they observed a significant increase in these violations after the state passed a strict abortion ban. This endangers those with an obstetric emergency.

For those unfamiliar--she is a MD/PhD but her expertise is in sports medicine. Prior to the pandemic she had 7 pubs on eye issues in athletes. She has zero expertise in infectious disease or vaccination, but coauthored a bunch of papers with Prasad on COVID and rose to prominence as a contrarian.

Why is Tracey from the FDA so interested in the Danish vaccine schedule? We have already established that Denmark is NOT a peer nation to the US. They are a nation of 6M- NYC has a population of 8M. They have universal healthcare & are known for widespread testing of HepsAg. It's apples to oranges

We DO NOT mandate vaccines in this country. Our public health leaders make vaccine recommendations. The fact that Aaron Siri suggested we mandate vaccines is dishonest and wrong.

I am real sick of hearing "We haven't had a case of X in 30 years, why do we need to get a booster or initial vaccine?" COME ON, PEOPLE. USE THOSE CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS. The reason you haven't seen a case in years IS BECAUSE OF THE VACCINE.

Attorney Siri likes to believe that because he says it, it is true. For example, simply saying a study is underpowered is not enough; SHOW us why it's underpowered or what the sample size should be. Again, you likely can't do this calculation because you aren't a scientist.

Siri's smug comments regarding the ethics of not using placebo controls in trials are infuriating. Has he ever designed, carried out, or analyzed the data from DOING these studies? NO. He is a Lawyer, he doesn't know how.

Show me data that demonstrates more vaccines = "bad" for someone. Current research shows multiple vaccines given at once are safe and don't "overwhelm" a child's immune system.

One (of so so many) things that made me angry today was Retsef Levi suggesting people "ask their friends" as a way to gauge HepB prevalence in the community*, when a reason it's currently low is *all the effort we've put into vaccination over several decades*. I miss actual experts on ACIP.

RFK Jr’s vaccine advisory committee is a sham. I can’t even keep up with the mental gymnastics that several of these members are doing to justify harming some kids unnecessarily.
