Watching Bringing Out the Dead. Fascinating as a "light magic "version of Taxi Driver's urban noir. Scorsese encourages the comparison w/rhyming shots. More a short story than a novel (not withstanding that the source is a novel!). Love the portrait of NYC in its last hellhole moments.
