One day perhaps we'll have a discussion about the harm caused by irreversible medical non-intervention, but since one of the 254 subjects of this study shifted between cis and trans, we have to take a back seat to societal concerns for people whose lives they actually value.

To be clear, for casual browsers here: The Economist lied about the findings of this study and then asked the anti-trans equivalent of the KKK their opinion on the research. SEGM has publicly stated that their goal is to eliminate transition--trans people--ENTIRELY. Absolutely shameful article.

Buried details: the 18% of kids whose identities shifted over the course of the study were overwhelmingly between binary trans and non-binary or vice versa. The number who shifted between binary cis and trans was very low indeed - out of a subset of 254, precisely *one* kid shifted in this way.
