my boss is now talking to me about adding AI into our work and the entire way he talks about it can be summed up as "what if we had another person on staff who could do things that we wanted them to do" i have a suggestion for how we could resolve this issue.

This is the problem I have with publishers right now. Every one I've spoken with lately has basically gone "your game needs to be finished and you need to be a guaranteed success before it even gets to us." They want you to spend millions, and they want 40-50% minimum to barely market your game.
