Yesterday, I voted against the NDAA in protest of President Trump’s unconstitutional deployment of National Guard troops to Illinois. These deployments threaten our democracy and our community. The President must stop using our military as pawns in his political theater.

There’s a viral video reposted by a lot of news people nationally about an abduction at West Loop Elementary School, but there is no school with that name. The video seems to be of ICE detaining people near UIC yesterday. Details matter. We need to try to get them right before sharing.

The Northwest Side Rapid Response Team posted this community alert a short while ago. It describes how a resident in Albany Park was lured by a phone call that indicated they had won a prize. Another was lured to an address to pick up scrap metal. Both were detained by ICE upon arrival.
