As an elected official, it is insane to me that not one, not two, but THREE candidates running for federal office were just caught betting on their own elections.

I worked with the team that calculated a good chunk of these figures, & the reality is LAPD has two helicopters in our skies 24/7 without any discernible benefit to public safety. All we get is pollution (noise + air) & debt.

This photo should be on the front page of every single newspaper in America today.

Incidentally, LAPD is turning and burning these helicopters at a ridiculous rate. At ~940 hours/year per airframe, their utilization rate is nearly 4x that of most military units. They’re redlining the fleet’s cycle-to-hour ratio just to maintain a constant loiter above Black neighborhoods.

It baffles me how few people understand that giving people a decent bus option nearly *always* net REMOVES drivers from the road. Like if you need to drive, you can drive faster if you give people who dont want to drive the option to not drive? It literally gets people out of your way? 🫠🫠🫠

I've spent a lot of time in countries where graft and grifting are the norm and I assure you it is worth a truly immense cost to prevent that from taking hold in our society. You do not want to live in that kind of society.

People get weird about buying pre-cut produce, or rotisserie chickens, or frozen veggies but I think of it like this: most chefs have prep cooks doing that stuff for them-- washing and cutting and blanching and par cooking. It saves time and labor to have someone else do it, so go for it.
