Been rewatching bits of Buffy with my partner recently and the little speech Giles gives to Buffy at the end of Innocence (2.14) is as good as television gets. Anthony Head brought such a wonderful human dignity to the character and the show, as he did with all of his roles.

He played the good doctor in a '90s West End Rocky Horror revival. You can find video online - you definitely should.

Devastated to hear about Tony Head. He was as much a father figure to Buffy fans as he was to Buffy herself. He had the voice of an angel and I sob every time I hear him sing the words "your stalwart, standing fast." I loved him in everything -holy shit, his Frank-N-Furter- but he's Giles, forever.

Probs the single most useful skill I've gained from meditating is abandoning unproductive thoughts before they take root. They still pop up, but if I'm embarking on a mean (usually to myself, sometimes to others) or paranoid or somehow unhelpful thought, I just... don't finish it. Life-changing!

Fun format fact that dates from 1979: when we say Fangoria in the mag it’s FANGORIA. When it’s Fango it’s just Fango. (See also: STARLOG, GOREZONE, FUTURE LIFE, etc.) I like seeing our internal formatting guidelines break out into the wider world. That amuses me.

We need to loudly oppose AI for sure, but the danger is that without also elevating human-made art with the same frequency and volume, it still makes AI the centre of the conversation. Anyway, Iron Boy looks gorgeous. Sony has picked it up for NA, LATAM, and some of Asia. That's fantastic news.

Everyone is (rightly) clowning on the Book of Life guy for getting in bed with the AI crowd, but there's a danger that the dopamine hit of outrage overwhelms good news. Like, I've seen dozens of posts about Gutierrez and only one or two about this. We need to be as loud about the good as the bad.

A thing I never saw coming w this job was just how good it would feel to curate a team I trust, respect, and believe in. Most of us spend our lives making the best of the hand we’re dealt; to be able to pick the cards/stack the deck is an amazing feeling, surrounded by love and quality. Recommended.

MACHINE GIRL, TOKYO GORE POLICE, VAMPIRE GIRL VS FRANKENSTEIN GIRL, MUTANT GIRLS SQUAD, and, well, HELLDRIVER. Dude was a force of nature. RIP my man.

As a human who reads I love this. As a human who had the privilege of contributing a little part of a nerd fest I had with some cool humans who make gory things for some of my faves, I also love this. I cannot wait to be so annoyingly human when this compendium drops!

Here's some fun scoop about First In Fright: The FANGORIA Compendium. It was built by humans. Humans researched and wrote and edited and designed it. Human conversations were had to unlock human memories and insights that may have stayed locked up forever if a human hadn't asked the right question.

Heads-up that I'm blocking anybody who complains about a paywall. Paywalls suck, writers hate them as much as you do, but you gotta live in reality with the rest of us. Journalism is a skeleton of its former self. If readers refuse to pay for the work, bingo, there's less writing worth reading.
