In honor of Anthony Perkins' birthday, I wanted to share this film still from 1960's TALL STORY, which is a personal favorite of mine because it depicts Jane Fonda looking at Anthony Perkins the way I assume we all look at Anthony Perkins.

My novelization of Basket Case is set during Easter week, a large portion occurs on Easter, and Easter traditions come into play, like Belial's Easter Egg Hunt in the Hotel Broslin. It is the Easter version of Basket Case!

It feels like a missed opportunity that we never got a BASKETCASE sequel set on Easter.

My not-so-hot take is that monster of the week episodes often are more significant in genre shows for audience attachment and character evolution that the gauntlet of the main storyline. Let people have fun asides, silly misadventures, and one-off creature features.

Happened to see it was Renée Estevez's birthday...and honestly, I feel like she remains far too underrated in the pantheon of horror icons. Her turns as a mainstay of INTRUDER and as the final girl in SLEEPAWAY CAMP II are both truly solid genre contributions. Get her a legacy sequel, stat.
