Going into AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH this morning with a theory: AVATAR’s lack of cultural presence between movies (so far) is part of the appeal, not an indictment of the franchise. It’s a throwback to sequels of yesteryear — no television shows, no movie spinoffs, no Comic-Con timeline announcements.
